The focus of this category is to help entrepreneurs in Mitchell start and grow their business in Mitchell.
Prize: The Funded Project will receive $5000 in funding, plus will have the option to accept in-kind funding (Free broadband and phone service for 12 months, and access to free warehouse and office space)
- Services will be delivered to a location in Mitchell with network access currently
- Office space is within Mitchell Telecom's current facility
What fits: Perhaps you've always made the best homemade sausages, maybe your knitted hats are an internet craze waiting to happen, or perhaps you've always wanted to develop your own mobile app. If you have an idea, but have let the barriers to start your own enterprise prevent you from taking the early steps – we want to help.
We're looking for new or pre-startup businesses in the city of Mitchell. If you're an existing business looking to expand, you may have been in operation for no more than three years (as of Oct 1, 2013) and annual revenues cannot exceed $50,000
Selection Criteria: 1) We want to fund the business with the highest likelihood of success. 2) The bigger the impact the better. 3) If those things are equal amongst qualifying plans, we will prioritize entrants that can best and uniquely leverage Mitchell Telecom's products and services.
Selection process:
- Complete the application process to provide the overall concept of your business.
- A selection committee will review all submissions and select finalists.
- Finalists will be interviewed by the selection committee to get more details on how your business will operate.
- A selection committee will select winners and award amounts.
- Dates:
- Submissions will be accepted until September 16th
- Finalists will be notified by September 23rd
- Finalist interviews will start on Oct 14th. Finalists will be asked to prepare a pitch presentation with additional details on the business and answer questions from the selection committee
- Winners will be announced by the end of October 2013
